Kristi
M. Pado, MD is Director of Patient Education and
a surgical breast specialist at the Saul and
Joyce Brandman Breast Center, A Project of
Women's Guild, at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center. Dr. Pado has particular interest
in minimally invasive diagnostic and
treatment methods for all types of breast
diseases. She has initiated multiple
breast-related research projects at
Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Pado has published articles and book
chapters on topics in her field in
Advanced Therapy of Breast
Disease, Surgical Clerkship Manual, Archives of
Surgery, the
Journal of Gastrointestinal
Surgery and the
Journal of Clinical
Microbiology. A
frequent presenter, she has spoken before
multiple Los Angeles-area hospitals, national
and international breast cancer conferences,
community audiences, the Society
of Nuclear Medicine, Southwestern Surgical
Congress, Pacific Northwest Vascular Society,
British Esophageal Group, Seattle Surgical
Society, Virginia Mason Medical Center and the
American Society for Microbiology.
Prior to joining the staff at Cedars-Sinai, she
was a research assistant at the University of
California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Baxter
Diagnostics. An outstanding investigator, Dr.
Pado patented a surgical device used to increase
operating room efficiency, assisted in the
development of a method for the
rapid detection of cytomegalovirus and helped
design an in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility
test.
A board-certified surgeon, Dr. Pado holds
additional certification in advanced cardiac
life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
She is a member of the American College of
Surgeons, the ACS Oncology Group, the American
Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Medical
Association and the American Medical Women's
Association.
Dr. Pado graduated with distinction from
Stanford University in Palo Alto, California
earning a bachelor's degree in psychology before
receiving her medical degree from the University
of California Davis School of Medicine. She
completed an internship and residency in general
surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in
Seattle. Dr. Pado also completed a surgical
fellowship in breast oncology at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center. She is a former Oxford
University Scholar.
